Abstract |
Israel Beker (born 1917 in Poland), an actor, is the sole survivor of a large family that perished in the Holocaust. After WWII he was a refugee in the DP camp Landsberg. He founded a Jewish theatre and appears in a leading role in and wrote the script for the feature film LANG IST DER WEG / LANG IS DER VEG (1947-1948 / Herbert B. Fredersdorf, Marek Goldstein). After immigrating to Israel he became a main figure, as actor and director, at the Israeli National Theatre Habima. Then Beker suddeny turned to painting. |
