Abstract

Kit is a veteran of the Spanish Civil War who has returned to the US. As a member of the Lincoln Brigade that had fought in Spain for three years, he was captured and tortured in a Franco prison. He was driven half mad with brutal punishment as Gestapo agents attempted to get him to reveal where he had hidden the battle flag captured from one of Hitler's elite regiments. Back in the US the Nazis are still relentless, hounding him and using a bevy of beauteous women, among them Toni Donne, to worm the information from him. Moreover, Nazi agent Dr. Skaas, attempts to drive Kit insane so that he will reveal the hiding place of the hated banner. Toni Donne is forced by Dr. Skaas into luring Kit to a house filled with Nazi agents but Kit destroys his tormentors and manages to escape to freedom with Toni Donne in tow.
