Abstract

"Somewhere in Germany shortly before the war." The enthusiastic hunter Alan Thorndike has made his way, unnoticed, to the Berchtesgaden headquarters. He has Hitler in sight but hesitates. In the same moment he is tracked down by a squad on guard but he manages to get away. After a successful escape from Germany he believes that he is safe in London, but continues to be followed. The hunter becomes the hunted. At the end there is a sequence of pictures from the war. Thorndike enters the Royal Airforce and parachutes over Germany. The spokesman comments: An intelligent and trained man, armed with a shotgun, is in Germany with the intention of using it - even if it takes him years to carry out his task.
