Abstract

A recreation of events in the life of Adolf Hitler from the end of WWI to his ascent as Germany's leader in 1934. Beginning in 1918, Hitler is hospitalized due to shock suffered in WWI. The film then follows him as he founds the National Socialist Party, attracts Himmler, Goering, Hess, Roehm, and Goebbels to his cause, and his imprisonment after the Munich beer hall "putsch." In prison, he writes "Mein Kampf" and then continues to campaign for power after his release. At the film's end, he has been appointed Reichchancellor and is attempting to consolidate his power and eliminate his enemies.
