Abstract |
His wife and children murdered by the Nazis, Hans Müller, earlier a famous juggler, magician, and variety star, comes to Israel as a survivor of the holocaust. At his accomodation in an admission camp he reacts with a camp psychosis. Due to his conspicous behaviour he attracts the attention of a policeman in Haifa. When questioned about his passport he feels pressurized and knocks the policeman down. Müller becomes the object of a large-scale manhunt Accompanied by an orphan boy who he meets along the way, he roams shyly and in fear through the country until he finds shelter in a Kibbuz. There he falls in love with Yael, whose husband was killed by Arabs, and gradually finds his way back to his own self. However, when the police come he reaches for his weapon. Held back by Yael and his friend, he finally gives up. |
