Synopsis

Karl Bruner wird im Geiste der Nazis erzogen und wächst zu einem Gestapo-Offizier heran. Karl liebt Anna Muller, mit der er schon als Kind befreundet war und die jetzt unter der Herrschaft der Nazis zu leiden hat. Denn Anna ist Amerikanerin, obwohl sie in Deutschland geboren und aufgewachsen ist. Sie sträubt sich hartnäckig gegen jeden Versuch, sich den Nazis anzuschließen. Da sie für ungeeignet gehalten wird, dem Führer Kinder zu schenken, soll sie sterilisiert werden. Bruners Vorgesetzte, die allmählich auch an seiner Gesinnung zweifeln, stellen ihn auf die Probe, indem sie ihn auf die Frau ansetzen, die er liebt. Als er Anna davor bewahren will, öffentlich ausgepeitscht zu werden, stellt man ihn vor Gericht. Bei der Verhandlung steht er zu seinen Taten und prangert die Nazis an. Karl und Anna werden erschossen.
